We give equal weight to skills and values.

While skills and experience are important, we also evaluate candidates for values alignment throughout the hiring process. That means seeking out folks who embody grounded optimism, courageous feedback, relational integrity, and equity in practice. Read more about our values here.

We accept lived experience as expertise.

We don’t require a college degree or any specific educational markers in order to recognize someone as qualified. In fact, many GGS team members over the years have been career-changers. If folks can make a case for how their lived or learned experience applies to the job, we are more than happy to consider it.

We strive to make hiring inclusive and transparent.

Multiple staff members participate in each round, from reviewing portfolios to conducting interviews to joining for meet-and-greets. And we communicate with candidates as much as possible along the way. While we can’t give everyone feedback, we do offer feedback to anyone who was invited to interview.

We don’t negotiate salaries.

Equitable compensation is important to us. Salary negotiations are one moment where pay disparities tend to arise, particularly across lines of race and gender. Rather than negotiating, we list the position’s salary in each job description. This gives all parties a sense of what to expect, and helps us to maintain fairness and transparency across the studio.
